Holding a Bachelor of Arts in history from the University of California, Riverside, Taylor further enriched his education with a summer study of medieval history in Stirling, Scotland. Notably, he held the position of Lieutenant Governor for the American Bar Association, clerked at the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission in Washington, D.C., and contributed as an Intake Volunteer for the Employment Justice Center, dedicated to aiding lower-income employees in pro se litigation.
