About Charles Simco

Charles Simco has been with Shibley Righton LLP since 1985, and is an expert in construction law. He is a litigator with an emphasis on construction litigation, surety, professional liability litigation, and employment law. Charles has appeared before all levels of courts in Ontario and has also appeared before several tribunals and inquests. The depth and breadth of his experience allows him to guide clients through the most technical of construction disputes, and to provide practical advice and direction on issues involving employment law.

His clients include insurers, institutional and private owners, contractors, design consultants, lawyers and bonding companies. What with the expense and complexity of much litigation today, especially in the construction industry, Charles provides valuable insight into how to manage, and also prevent, lengthy legal battles.

He has been recognised as an expert in the practice of construction law and professional liability by L'Expert. He has also been recognized by such legal and construction organizations as the Ontario Bar Association, Surety Association of Canada, Ontario Association of Architects, University of Toronto Faculty of Architecture, and Ontario Real Estate Association, all of which have invited him to speak on a variety of topics related to construction and professional liability issues.

For the past three years Charles has taught a course in licensing admission for the Ontario Association of Architects which is the licensing body for that profession. He has also lectured in the Masters of Construction Law program at York University. Charles earned his LLB at McGill University and also has a Bachelor of Arts from McGill.
