Shane S. Smith focuses her practice of law on representing first party property policyholders who are engaged in a dispute with their insurance company. In 2001, Ms. Smith obtained her Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Notre Dame, in Notre Dame, Indiana where she was a two-time Captain of the Women’s Varsity Golf Team and voted by her teammates as a two-time Most Valuable Player. Upon graduation from Notre Dame in 2001, she competed professionally for three years on the Futures Golf Tour, the Official Developmental Tour of the LPGA. In 2007, Ms. Smith received her Juris Doctor from Thomas M. Cooley Law School in Lansing, Michigan. For two semesters during law school, she was a legal intern in the Sixty Plus, Inc. Elderlaw Clinic. Prior to joining Merlin Law Group in 2013, Ms. Smith practiced for over five years in Sarasota, Florida in the areas of areas of civil and commercial litigation with an emphasis on construction and surety law. Ms. Smith previously served as a Director on the Board of Directors of the Young Lawyers Division of the Sarasota County Bar Association, and the Junior League of Sarasota Board of Directors. Ms. Smith is a native of St. Petersburg, Florida and enjoys spending her spare time playing golf, spending time with family and friends, volunteering with the Junior League, and watching Notre Dame football.
