About Patrick J. Hughes

Patrick J. Hughes (“Pat”) is a lead attorney at Patriots Law Group, recognized for his comprehensive experience in federal employment law, security clearance matters, military administrative law, and military pay cases. Admitted to the New York State Bar and a Lieutenant Colonel in the Air Force Reserve, Pat began his distinguished legal career as a JAG officer, developing deep knowledge of military and federal employment law. His extensive experience includes representing clients in federal courts and before administrative bodies such as the EEOC and MSPB. Pat is dedicated to defending the rights of military personnel and federal employees, offering guidance on employment disputes, disciplinary actions, and complex security clearance issues. One of his notable successes involved securing a multimillion-dollar recovery for over 40 Army reservists denied Basic Allowance for Housing, as well as correcting adverse career impacts tied to the dispute. Before co-founding Patriots Law Group in 2017, Pat earned top rankings as an Area Defense Counsel and as a JAG officer within the Air Force Legal Operations Agency. Martindale-Hubbell® Peer Review Ratings™ are the gold standard in attorney ratings, and have been for more than a century. These ratings indicate attorneys who are widely respected by their peers for their ethical standards and legal expertise in a specific area of practice.

The Martindale-Hubbell Peer Review Ratings process is the gold standard due to its objectivity and comprehensiveness. Lawyers solicited for peer reviews include both those selected by the attorney being reviewed and lawyers independently selected by Martindale-Hubbell. All reviewers are verified as attorneys through Martindale-Hubbell’s extensive attorney database. Only attorneys practicing at least three years and receiving a sufficient number of reviews from non-affiliated attorneys are eligible to receive a Rating.

What are the different Martindale-Hubbell Peer Review Ratings?*

• AV Preeminent®: The highest peer rating standard. This rating signifies that a large number of the lawyer’s peers rank him or her at the highest level of professional excellence for their legal knowledge, communication skills and ethical standards.
