Contact with Beckwith Legal was made through the paid referral service of the Clearwater Bar Association. The fee was $50 for a 30-minute consult. James Beckwith gave the extremely negative impression of having predetermined his decision not to represent or advise me before the appointment call was made. Pretending to play "devil's advocate," his attitude was dismissive and his information inaccurate. I had already read specific provisions of federal law pertaining to my case but Beckwith was entirely unfamiliar with any of it. He did not listen to the facts I provided, then based his consultation on his own inaccuracies. After speaking with him, I contacted the relevant federal agency directly and was told the very opposite of Beckwith's erroneous interpretations His hourly rate is $500/hr but this phone call was not worth the $50 non-refundable referral fee I had already paid. Had I not researched publicly available information I would not have known to reject his "legal advice."
