I was assigned James Goodhines as my public defender. James not the worst lawyer I have ever dealt with but he was defiantly the worst at communication. Not only did he take about 3 separate vacations or weeks off during the three month period I was dealing with him. My last conversation with James was today when he called me after about three weeks of me leaving messages on his voicemail, with his secretary, and for another attorney in his office when he was away. He called me out of the blue to inform me that he was unable to have my last court date arraigned and that there was a warrant out for my arrest. I was already aware of this because of a letter I received in the mail. Not only did he waste my time with a pointless phone call, he also went on about how hard he had worked on my case, one that he never had to appear for. The conversation ended with him hanging up on me when I challenged what he had to say. I wouldn't recommend James Goodhines or anyone from his office, because it seems like his whole office has poor communication skills not just him. Unfortunately more people will get stuck with him as there public defender but if he can be avoided do so at all costs.
Worst lawyer ever.... my boyfriend had him and he only spoke to him 2 times in 9 months .would tell us he was going to go see him and never did ..and when he did see him didn't remember him with the right case .now my boyfriend has pre trail don't know nothing about his case or what's going on .tried to get him off the case and the courts are dragging it out now ..smh .
At first glance Goodhines looked like the perfect attorney. Well groomed, well spoken, and said everything I wanted to hear. After that first time and after we all agreed that no money was owed he told me call me in a week so you can come down to my office and we'll put together a solid defense (sounds good to me).. I called a week later, left a message and nothing, no response. Did the same thing twice or 3 times a week for the next 3 months. I only received ONE CALL BACK FROM MR.GOODHINES AND IT WAS TO INSULT ME AND TELL ME HE DOESNT APPRECIATE ME GOING AROUND COMPLAINING ABOUT HIM! This only happened after I went to court clerk's office and asked if he had a new number because I couldn't seem to reach him. Clerks office emailed saying his client couldn't get ahold of him. He went on to call me a liar without knowing that I recorded and kept record of every call and message I left him. After 8 months and not showing up to my last court dates he text the clerk saying I should hire oth
