About Mr. John D. Northup III

John Northup has a diverse practice, focusing on commercial real estate, banking, corporate and business law, commercial litigation, aviation and transactional healthcare law.

Prior to joining Bouhan Falligant, Northup worked as an attorney at Morris, Manning & Martin, LLP. He has extensive experience handling a wide range of matters for commercial banks and non-depository lenders, and also represents real estate developers in all aspects of their practice, including acquisition and development, zoning and land use, economic development, litigation and real estate finance. He also assists physicians and healthcare providers with all transactional aspects of their businesses, including real estate, corporate structure, employment issues and mergers and acquisitions. Prior to entering private law practice, he was a vice president of a financial services-focused investment bank in Tampa, Florida, where he specialized in capital offerings and mergers and acquisitions for community banks and thrifts.

A Savannah native, Northup graduated from Savannah Country Day School and earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Virginia, and his law degree and an M.B.A. in finance from the University of Georgia. He is admitted to practice law in all state and federal courts in both Georgia and South Carolina. He is a 2019 graduate of Leadership Savannah, and serves on the boards of several local organizations, including The Creative Coast, Caretta Research Project, Savannah Country Day School Alumni Board and the University of Virginia Club of Savannah.
