Simas & Associates, Ltd. is a law firm established in 2002 with an office in San Luis Obispo, CA. At this office location, there are 3 lawyers practicing government, administrative law consisting of healthcare regulation, workplace and 12 other areas of law.
I first met Steve and his exceptional staff in 2006. Unfortunately for my family and me, it was far too late as we suffered the loss of my 20+ years as a dentist due to my prior attorney's negligence. The generous time Steve spent explaining my case became invaluable as I learned that entrusted institutions are run by people, and the evil incumbent therein. They did high quality legal work but were unable to predict costs, use lower cost labor staff when possible, wrote memos and charged me for information I already had. I will be pursuing a dispute resolution process about an exceptionally padded bill. They were also rude and wrote angry letters to me--and of course tried to charge me for them. They were very unprofessional.
I would not recommend Simas & Associates based on my experience. What I expected to be meaningful legal support during a stressful employment situation ultimately felt like a poor return on a significant financial investment. I hired this firm to represent me during a Skelly hearing, a process I was unfamiliar with at the time. Like many employees in this position, I sought legal counsel because I felt intimidated and wanted to ensure I was properly defended. In hindsight, I wish I had first taken the time to fully understand the nature and limitations of a Skelly hearing before retaining counsel.
