In January 2025, I hired John Hicks at Omnus Law to amend my child custody agreement after moving states and to pursue an increase in child support. I paid $6,000 upfront and was assured the case was straightforward. I never actually spoke with John Hicks. Instead, I worked through Philip Strauch, who made strong assurances about the case and set expectations that were never met. Shortly after, I learned Hicks had left the firm, became unreachable, and was ultimately no longer practicing. Despite this, Omnus initially told me I needed to continue trying to contact him myself. Months later, the firm re-engaged and reassigned my case to Edmund Karam, a newly licensed attorney. From that point on, communication became inconsistent and unreliable. Emails and calls often went unanswered, and it was frequently unclear who was actually responsible for my case. Critically, I was told my case had been filed in January 2025.
