He had his assistant, Jessica, who is amazing, call me and set up a time to meet with Todd Torvinen. At the first meeting, I felt very comfortable, and so did other family members that went with me. Todd is so knowledgeable, and explained the whole process so it was easy to understand how the probate process works. He has a wonderful sense of humor, and always made you feel he was there for you. His charges are so reasonable. If you are in need of a lawyer for family matters, please do not hesitate to contact him.
Attorney Todd Torvinen was referred to me by another Reno attorney because Todd is both a CPA and an Atty. Todd responded to my initial call in 1 day; and on Christmas Eve at that! He listened, gave advice freely over the phone and clearly understood the purpose of my call and how to solve the issues I called about. When I arrived in Reno, I met with Todd and he prepared the needed documentation in realtime to move mom mom's trust from OR to NV. There was no wasted time or emails/calls back and forth and we finished our session with everything completed. His rate was very reasonable for the work done. Jessica, Todd's very capable assistant, is a notary as well. She even redid the trust binder at no charge. So, in summary Todd and Jessica are very competent and personable. I felt that Todd respected my intelligence throughout. He isn't stuffy and has a sense of humor. So, if those are qualities that you like as well, I think you'll be happy hiring Todd and Jessica as your legal team.
Todd was professional and funny at the same time. He talked about some personal issues but it was tangential to my situation. He was direct, clear and did not charge me for the time he spent talking about outside issues. He made a point to say so. He is incredibly intelligent and articulate. Not sure why the other reviewer was so upset. Maybe had an axe to grind? In any event, Todd knows his stuff, is fair, funny, articulate, timely and kind. DEFINITELY WOULD RECOMMEND!
Very knowledgable
I hired Mr. Todd Torvinen 2022-2023 to acquire funds of $57,000 owed to me from the defendant in a simple lawsuit. I even had in writing from the defendant that she would pay me if I went to court. I also presented to him evidence that she possibly had the funds to satisfy the claim. I have known the defendant for 20 years. When Mr. Torvinen contacted the defendant's lawyer he was told that his client had no funds. I asked Mr. Torvinen to acquire a credit report to see if she had the funds or was hiding them. He spent months doing nothing. He didn't do the one single task of getting the report that could satisfy my claim. He kept saying to me he wanted to get rid of my lawsuit, like it was a nuisance to him. After he dismissed the lawsuit His reply to me was flippant and dismissive. He said "Life is short".
He was very unprofessional. His feet were on his desk, he was chewing gum. He spoke constantly about HIS OWN personal issues while he was charging me as a client. My elderly parents were in the meeting also and were horrified by his unprofessional conduct. He made derogatory comments about me including saying I have brain damage. I am a school teacher, have a MASTERS degree and am not an idiot. I then spoke to his ONCE on the phone for 10 minutes and he charged me for 30 minutes. NOT RECOMMENDED
