I contracted with the Law Office of Richard Pepsny to do a loan modification. After sending 4 payments of $600 to his office, I never heard from him. I called him 5 months later to see if the modification went through, his office said that they couldn't approve, and that they wouldn't refund my money. After hiding behind his office lackeys and not speaking with me directly, I finally spoke with him and he agreed to refund my money. ONE payment of $400 was made, and then he totally disappeared.
Pepsny has two offices in NJ, and they guaranteed they could get me a Home Loan Modification, or they would refund my money. So I signed a contract that said if they fail to get me a rate reduction they would refund my money, and I paid them $2000. It took them several months to get my papers together (I had to FAX them several times because the kept loosing them) and then the loan modification request was denied twice. Now they won't give me my refund. I can support all this with legal records.
They insisted I qualified for an interest rate reduction, & perhaps a principle reduction. I signed a contract - I would pay them $2000 to get me a better rate, if they failed, they would refund my money. They lost my paperwork multiple times over a 5 month period, so I had to keep faxing it to them. When they finally submitted my loan modification request, it was rejected (twice) by the bank because I "DID NOT QUALIFY for a home loan modification." After many requests & 2 months, NO refund.
