About Daniel Patrick Emkey

Attorney Emkey is a lifelong resident of Berks County. After graduating from Holy Name High School, Mr. Emkey went to Alvernia College where he majored in Criminal Justice. While attending Alvernia College, Mr. Emkey was a member and President of the St. Thomas More Honor Society, Alpha Phi Sigma (National Criminal Justice Honor Society), and was an All-American Scholar. Mr. Emkey graduated cum laude.   Upon earning his undergraduate degree, Mr. Emkey earned his Juris Doctorate from Widener University School of Law. At Widener Law, Mr. Emkey was a member of the Harrisburg Civil Law Clinic and also participated in the Intensive Trial Advocacy Program. Following his passion for criminal law and litigation, Mr. Emkey found his success as a Berks County Assistant District Attorney, where he spent the majority of his time in the courtroom prosecuting major criminal cases. In total, Attorney Emkey prosecuted hundreds of cases ranging from child sexual abuse, rape cases, felony gun and drug cases, burglary, and aggravated assault. Attorney Emkey quickly gained the reputation of being an aggressive yet compassionate attorney.   Although Attorney Emkey enjoyed the public position of the District Attorney's office, he felt his skills could be better utilized by helping people in the private sector, therefore, he joined the law firm of Sodomsky and Nigrini where he practiced criminal defense. While at Sodomsky and Nigrini, Mr. Emkey defended hundreds of clients in over 15 counties (in PA) with charges ranging from summary offenses to attempted murder.   In 2009, Attorney Emkey started his own law firm based on the principles that people's rights come first and that a law firm should be primarily committed to the client.    Mr. Emkey is a member of both the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and the Pennsylvania Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. Mr. Emkey was an Adjunct Professor at Alvernia College in 2008, teaching Criminal Law. He has also spoken at numerous events and functions in Berks County. Attorney Emkey is a member of the Berks County Bar Association, the Pennsylvania Bar Association and the American Bar Association.
