About Phylicia M. Powers

Attorney Phylicia M. Powers, a native of Duplin County, North Carolina, brings a wealth of experience and commitment to her criminal defense practice. A graduate of The Williams School and the University of Maryland at College Park, she earned her Juris Doctor from North Carolina Central University School of Law in 2011, where she actively participated in advocacy competitions. Before establishing her private firm, Attorney Powers served for eight years as an Assistant Public Defender in Durham, representing both juvenile and adult clients across a broad spectrum of criminal cases, from misdemeanors to serious felonies. In addition to her legal work, she is dedicated to education, serving as an adjunct professor and trial team coach at NCCU School of Law and previously teaching at Strayer University.
