Peter Ganyard joined The Shapiro Law Firm in 2021. The son of a retired Marine Corps Colonel, Peter moved to Dallas in 2010 to begin law school at Southern Methodist University after two years of working on Capitol Hill in Washington DC. After graduating from Southern Methodist in 2014, he joined the Collin County District Attorney's Office as a misdemeanor prosecutor. Peter quickly moved up the ranks of the District Attorney's Office and was promoted to misdemeanor chief, felony prosecutor, and then felony chief. He gained valuable experience working in the Domestic Violence Unit, Crimes Against Children Unit, and the Felony Trial team, eventually leading the 416th District Court for two years. During that time, he tried over 50 misdemeanor and felony jury trials and has handled thousands of cases including DWI, assault family violence, sexual assault, white collar crime, drug offenses, and capital murder. He was nominated as Child Advocate of the Year and was appointed as Special Prosecutor in both Hunt and Rockwall Counties. He graduated with Honors from Clemson University in 2008.
