Jennifer Modell earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Chicago and her Juris Doctor from Northwestern University School of Law in 1991.
Attorney Modell began her legal career with the public defender’s office in New York City, gaining invaluable experience in criminal defense. She later expanded her practice to include civil rights and immigration law. In 2007, Modell relocated to Pittsburgh and joined Berger and Green, where she developed a passion for advocating for clients facing disabilities and navigating the complexities of Social Security disability claims.
After several years, Ms. Modell broadened her expertise by working in management and supervisory roles. She gained experience in Social Security law at Caroselli Beacher, served as an Associate in Special Education Law at Ruder Law and managed social security lawyers and projects as the Managing Attorney for Project Management at Neighborhood Legal Services. She rejoined Berger and Green in 2024, where her clients continue to value her compassion, perseverance and commitment to their claims.
She is also a member of the Allegheny County Bar Association Social Security
Practitioners Committee and the National Organization of Social Security Representatives (NOSSCR.)
In addition to her legal practice, Ms. Modell is deeply involved in the local community. She serves on the boards of the Autism Connection of Pennsylvania and is a past member of the Board of Trustees of Achieva, two organizations dedicated to supporting individuals with disabilities.
Attorney Modell was recognized as a Super Lawyer from 2014 to 2016 in the area of Social Security Disability Law, an honor awarded to only 5% of attorneys in the state. Her expertise, combined with her genuine dedication to her clients, makes her a trusted advocate for those needing assistance with disability benefits.
