Haroutounian began his professional career in 2000 at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP in Washington, DC.
As an associate in the firm's Litigation Group, he focused on complex commercial litigation, representing clients in Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings, contractual disputes and business fraud matters. Haroutounian also drafted the Washington D.C.'s Litigation Group Manual on attorney-client privilege and work-product doctrine.
In 2007, Haroutounian joined Dechert, LLP as an associate in the Litigation Group where he represented a major pharmaceutical company and a global oil and gas enterprise.Throughout his legal career at both Skadden and Dechert, Haroutounian successfully represented pro-bono clients in matters ranging from landlord/tenant disputes, divorce proceedings and criminal matters.
Haroutounian graduated summa cum laude from the State University of New York at Albany in 1994. In 1999, he graduated from Syracuse University College of Law, summa cum laude, and was class Salutatorian. He earned an LL.M. in Trial Advocacy from Temple University School of Law in 2008.
