A Philadelphia native, Dr. Gerald Kaplan practiced medicine and general surgery from 1976 through 1986 before obtaining his law degree from Temple University. After law school, Dr. Kaplan worked at the Beasley Firm until 1994 as a litigator primarily in the area of medical malpractice before becoming a solo practitioner.

Since 1994, Dr. Kaplan has been of counsel to the Law Firm of Judy Greenwood, P.C., where he serves as a consultant on the firm's medical negligence and injury cases. Dr. Kaplan assists in the review and screening of the firm's medical negligence cases, advising on the best legal approaches.

    November 2001 thru June 2012:

    Since 2001, Mr. Kaplan has continued to lecture once or twice yearly to members of the American College of Plastic Surgeons, addressing best practice and risk management issues with both the general membership and with the graduating senior plastic surgical residents.

    Through late 2005, Mr. Kaplan was a once or twice yearly lecturer and panel member for the Pennsylvania Bar Institute, presenting Continuing Legal Education materials relating to medical malpractice issues. For five or six years during this period, he taught at the Jefferson Medical College, assisting and teaching in the freshman medical students' Anatomy laboratory.

    Over the past 8 years or more he has presented risk management lectures at the American College of Surgeons national meetings and yearly lectures to the Senior Residents of the American College of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS).
