Can I still sue my employer for an old injury?

If you were an employee of the company, you had two years to file a worker's compensation claim. It would have been difficult to establish facts necessary to bring a claim outside of the worker's compensation system. In any event, there is a three-year statute of limitations within which a suit must be filed for the typical claim like this.

Sounds like you may have a case. But, for a medical malpractice case to be worth pursuing there must be substantial permanent injuries. These kinds of cases are expensive and labor intensive. Only a severe injury warrants the costs, commitment and risk of loss that an attorney must assume.

Am I liable for the personal injury?

If the new owner fell due to their own inexperience or inability to handle the horse they are liable for their own injuries. Only if the horse caused the accident due to some defect which you hid would you be liable. Unless there are more facts, I would not be concerned about your liability.
