Although your Question does involve an "injury" what you are really asking is whether you can be charged with a crime, and if so, how do you fight the criminal charges. No. Not unless your future husband was an agent of yours during that car trip that caused the July 2011 car accident. It seems to me that would be difficult to prove, so you appear to be safe from actual liability. Of course, safety from actual liability does not guarantee you won't get sued. If you ever get sued wrongfully, consult with a lawyer immediately.

Given the facts, I would not advise investing in a lawsuit for defamation when you have several witnesses that would testify against you. You do have a workers compensation claim against your Employer if you continue to require treatment for your injuries , and are missing time from work.
