Can the at-fault party's insurance company require me to submit medical bills through my insurance first?

Answered by attorney Kevin Marc Habberfield (Unclaimed Profile)
Personal Injury lawyer at Black, Lyle & Habberfield, LLP
You must submit your medical and wage loss bills to YOUR insurance carrier. NY is a no-fault state. Any economic loss in excess of your no-fault benefits would be submitted to the at fault party's carrier. There are no co-pays or out-of-pocket expenses with no-fault coverage. Good luck.

I was injured in an accident in NY state I live in NJ. Do I need a NY or NJ Lawyer?

Answered by attorney Diana L. Anderson
Personal Injury lawyer at Diana L. Anderson
The claim will most likely be brought in New York unless you were injured on a property that is owned and operated by a multi-state company that owns property in New Jersey.  For example, if you were injured in a Hyatt Hotel in New York, you could actually bring the litigation in New Jersey because there are Hyatt hotels in New Jersey.  If you were injured in a motor vehicle accident on a New York road, by a New york driver, then you will bring the matter in the New York Courts.

Do I have a chance of getting disability if I have bi-polar disorder?

Christopher D. Morris
Answered by attorney Christopher D. Morris (Unclaimed Profile)
Personal Injury lawyer at Lewis, Reed & Allen, P.C.
Medically yes. Many people suffering from a psychiatric disorder are denied benefits and you should seek legal assistance if you are denied. The other concern would be if you are medically compliant with the advice of your physician. Are you taking the meds that are prescribed in the proper dosages? If the answer this question is yes and you are still unable to work, you may well qualify under the Social Security regulations.
