My case was truly a challenge. With the death of my daughter, an autistic child was kept by my daughter's friends and kept away from all family with no contact for several months. DCF refused assistance .. DCF said they do not do Custody! Melissa Pendergrass and the office staff, ( including legal secretary, & paralegal) are amazing. The through investigation, resulted in a parenting class, & a family petition agreement. After the signature of our Honorary Judge, a Sheriff's Deputy picked up this autistic child from the person keeping them and returned them to their family. RUN!!! Melissa Pendergrass showed a clear pattern of behavior that NO competent attorney should ever engage in. She filed multiple documents that were filled with factual errors, ignored several corrections made in open court, and continued repeating false statements even AFTER being repeatedly notified they were incorrect. Most egregiously, she kept attempting to file documents after she moved to withdraw and after her own client TERMINATED her on the record, something any attorney knows is absolutely NOT allowed. Melissa’s misconduct dragged the case out, confused the record, wasted judicial resources, and played a direct role in a Judge being disqualified, after solely relying on attorney Pendergrass’s numerous false statements. The actions of Melissa show careless and dishonest lawyering. Transcripts and court record speak for themselves, which is why this matter was pushed beyond the trial court. DONT WALK RUN FROM THIS WOMAN!!! Your money would be better off with a public defender or representing yourself. The Florida bar association dropped my complaint against her because they don't investigate ineffective counsel. They only investigate misconduct. THAT DOESNT MEAN SHE WASNT NEGLIGENT !!I didn't have the financial means at the time to hire another attorney to fight that for me.
