Hired Attorney

I am deeply disappointed with my experience during my case. I appeared before this judge to plead indigence, which I clearly explained and substantiated. Instead of consideration or empathy, she injected personal opinions, projected experiences from decades ago onto my current circumstances and this untenable economic climate, and dismissed my concerns without meaningful engagement. The appeals process felt procedural rather than just, with little indication that my financial reality was seriously weighed, despite the system existing for cases like mine. This was especially troubling given the city’s reliance on revenue from civil matters such as parking tickets, with obvious minimal effort to accommodate residents. For those living paycheck to paycheck, these fines are destabilizing. This experience undermined my confidence in the fairness of the process and left me feeling unheard.
