I used Hawthorne, Ackerly & Dorrance, LLC to handle my father's estate. The good was that they ultimately closed the estate without drawing an audit and we are done. However they charged significantly more than they told me they would up front, they did significantly less (I had assumed they would settle 4 trusts as well as the estate), they didn't always follow instructions, they were slow to respond to questions and they never had the courtesy even to acknowledge my complaints.
The attorney handling my parents estate requested items of the estate which had been requested by a family member. The family member dropped her request and the goods went to the attorney.
The managing partner sent me a retroactive bill for services previously offered as a professional courtesy upon discovering that I had consulted an attorney who had left the firm, then refused to participate in the Connecticut Bar Association dispute resolution process. Not happy with service or professionalis
