About Miles McDowell

Miles McDowell is an associate in the firm’s Nashville office. Mr. McDowell practices in the areas of General Civil Litigation, Transportation, Products Liability, Criminal Defense, Family Law, and Sports and Entertainment.

Mr. McDowell graduated from the University of Tennessee College of Law where he served as Vice President of the Sports and Entertainment Law Society, Treasurer of the Marilyn Yarborough Chapter of the Black Law Student Association, and as a Diversity and Inclusion Fellow. Mr. McDowell served as both a student attorney and clerk in the University of Tennessee Legal Clinic where he gained experience providing counsel, under supervision, in the areas of Criminal Defense, Family Law, and Expungement. Mr. McDowell also served as a member of the University’s Student Conduct Board where he heard cases in the student conduct office and rendered opinions on the disposition of these cases with other members. Mr. McDowell was coordinator of the Street Law program, which provided mentorship to local, lower income high school students while also teaching them everyday lessons about the law and being a lawyer. For his efforts in both the local community and law school, Mr. McDowell was the 2021 recipient of the James Powers Award in Criminal Advocacy and the Julian Blackshear Outstanding Student Award.

A native of LaVergne, just outside of Nashville, Mr. McDowell earned his Bachelor of Science in Sport Management at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, where he also minored in Business and Political Science. During his time in Knoxville, Mr. McDowell also served as a basketball coach at three local high schools as well as with a nationally recognized AAU program. Mr. McDowell has a deep passion for giving back to the community and lives by the quote, “You miss 100% percent of the shots you never take.”
