Susan Foxworth Campbell was born and raised in South Carolina. She attended the University of South Carolina earning a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Mass Communications with a Finance minor in May 1999. She then graduated from the University of South Carolina School of Law in May 2002, finishing in the top 20% of her class. She is licensed to practice in all South Carolina state courts, the South Carolina District Court, the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals in Richmond, Virginia, and the Supreme Court of the United States in Washington, D.C.
Susan began her career working in Columbia, SC with the firm of McCutchen Blanton Johnson and Barnette, handling class actions, car accident cases, and premises liability cases. It was at that firm that one of her cases was heard before the Supreme Court of the United States. Wachovia Bank v. Schmidt, 546 U.S. 303, 126 S. Ct. 941, 163 L. Ed. 2d 797 (2006). When the partners of that firm retired, Susan spent the next ten years working with McGowan Hood & Felder, handling car accident, premises, and medical negligence cases, as well as price-fixing and antitrust actions as special counsel for the South Carolina Attorney General’s office. While at this firm, Susan argued and received favorable rulings from the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit. AU Optronics Corp. v. South Carolina, 699 F.3d 385 (4th Cir. 2012).
In 2024, Susan joined Derrick Law Firm Injury Lawyers and is now putting her 22 years of complex litigation experience to use representing injured people in personal injury actions. Susan, her husband, and their daughter enjoy boating and fishing and spending a lot of time with their two dogs and 19-year-old cat.
