Carolyn L. Kirkland is an associate at Sloto & Diamond who devotes her practice to probate, trust, and guardianship administration, related litigation, and estate planning.
An Ohio native, Ms. Kirkland graduated from The Ohio State University with a B.A. in Political Science and a minor in Philosophy. She then attended the University of Miami School of Law, where she graduated cum laude in 2015.
Following her first year of law school, Ms. Kirkland served as a judicial intern for the Honorable T. Shawn Hervey of the Harrison County Common Pleas Court in Cadiz, Ohio. Ms. Kirkland then turned her concentration to probate law as a judicial intern for the Honorable Maria Korvick of the Eleventh Judicial Circuit of Florida Probate Division. Ms. Kirkland also served as a research assistant to Professor Kele Stewart, and interned with Legal Services of Greater Miami and a probate litigation firm in Coral Gables, Florida.
In addition to Ms. Kirkland’s internships, she served as an Articles and Comments Editor for the Race and Social Justice Law Review, where she reviewed and selected notes for publication. Ms. Kirkland was also selected to be a member of The Society of Bar and Gavel, an honor society that recognizes outstanding service and dedication to goodwill. Membership is the highest honor at the University of Miami School of Law. In the community, Ms. Kirkland served on the Women’s Fund of Miami-Dade County’s 10th annual Raise the Bar Planning Committee. Raise the Bar is an event that draws over 400 South Florida legal professionals to raise funds in support of community organizations that provide legal services for victims of domestic violence and human trafficking.
Prior to joining Sloto & Diamond, Ms. Kirkland was a volunteer staff attorney with the Probate Division of the Eleventh Circuit of Florida.
