I am originally from Wales in the United Kingdom, but moved to the United States in 2006 after a year working in Japan and getting married to my wonderful wife. I was fortunate enough to become a U.S. citizen in 2012.
Since 2009, I have practiced as an attorney in Memphis, Tennessee. I have also been licensed to practice law in California since 2010. A substantial part of my day-to-day legal practice is devoted to exclusively representing employees in employment disputes and civil rights cases before federal and state courts, including cases against governmental entities. I have participated as lead counsel in bench and jury trials in the Western District Court of Tennessee, and Shelby County Circuit Court, mostly covering employment discrimination, beginning with Taylor v. Brennan, 2:13-cv-02216-STA-dkv (W.D. Tenn. 2015) and most recently in Harper v. Shelby County, TN 2:21-cv-02300-MSN-tmp (W.D. Tenn. 2024) and Edwards v. Shelby County, TN, 2:22−cv−02682−TMP (W.D. Tenn. 2024). I have acted as lead counsel in employment cases of first impression before the Tennessee Court of Appeals. See Torres v. Precision Indus., P.I. Inc., No. W2014-00032-COA-R3CV, 2014 WL 3827820 (Tenn. Ct. App. Aug. 5, 2014). From my cases before the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals, I have twice presented oral argument—both with successful outcomes. See Terre v. Hopson, 708 Fed. Appx. 221, 2017 WL 3775266 (6th Cir. 2017); Torres v. Precision Indus., Inc., 938 F.3d 752, 2019 WL 4231199 (6th Cir. 2019).
