Debbie Flowers Payne

My wife and I have worked with Debbie Flowers Payne since 2022 during a very difficult custody battle. From day one, Ms. Payne never stopped fighting for our family. She is one of the very few attorneys in Berkeley County who genuinely cares about both the children and the families she represents. Because of her dedication, commitment, and advocacy, we now have full custody of my child. We are incredibly grateful for everything she did for our family and could not have asked for a better attorney to stand by our side.

Debbie listened to me explain the situation my child and I was in. Parental alienation is a real thing and Debbie showed that multiple times during my case. I felt confident having her by my side. She was very prompt in requesting and completing documentation, in calling me back and providing additional clarification on things I wasn’t quite sure of. I would’ve paid her three times as much as she asked. What she gave me was a happy life and a peace of mind that I was looking for in an uncertain time. Family court is very serious and the actions you take and the representation you hire will determine your future. I’m beyond grateful for what Debbie did in my case. I highly recommend Debbie Flower Payne. I had been divorce for 14 years and unfortunately, during those 14 years I was in an out of court due to my ex-wife and her irrational behavior. I had two other lawyers during that time, I was fortunate to have Debbie handled my last court case, against one of the most aggressive divorce lawyers in town. She handled the case professionally, resulting in winning the case. Most lawyers rush you in and out and charge for every second and piece of paper they used during your meetings. She is a lawyer that you can meet in person or call and you are not rushed, she takes the time to get to know you and your concerns. Her pricing is fair and she is very through. As for the negative reviews that are listed below, they are completely false and due to the content and consistency, seems to be coming from one person. I highly recommend Debbie Flower Payne.

I was very nervous about by case, but Debbie Payne explained everything to me in a very clear manner and made sure I understood what was going on. She returned by call and emails within a day or two and was honest with me. That was the most important part to me. I have never had a better lawyer then Ms. Payne. She stood up for me and protected my family - I would hire her again in a heartbeat.

We hired Debbie based in the recommendation from BCS. We utilized her services to finalize the adoption on 3/2/22. We are still waiting for the new north certificate. Between misfiled documents, documents never submitted, and a refusal to respond to calls, emails or to handle the situation in a proper manner, we are still waiting for our daughters birth certificate over a year after the adoption. Have not heard from Debbie since 5/2/23 and even that was more empty and broken promises.

Did not return calls or respond to emails until last minute. Also threatened me with intimidation and had a nasty attitude.

This attorney was recommended to me. One star is too much. She seems like a dream until she gets your money. She does NOTHING. Doesn’t respond and is not honest about anything when she does. In retaliation for me firing her she made up charges. All of which can be proven. But, she’s the attorney, right? Stay away from this one. You would do better representing yourself.

If I could give -5 Star I would. That would only be half of what this lawyer is worth!! I you are looking for a good lawyer run very fast away from this one!! You would have a better outcome if you represent your self. She doesn't return call and does not file paperwork on time. She might not even show up for court. She definitely does not work for her clients!!!

Was given and paid for a consultation contingent upon if I desired to obtain her services she would be available for my hearing on the date discussed. I expressed my concern that I only wanted the consultation if she was available to represent me on my court date. She assured me she would be so long I could pay her which I explained was no problem. I paid 100 dollars to discuss my hearing and putting my case together. The next buisness day i was told Ms summers she couldn't be available for my hearing " I'm sorry some other case came up". Complete scam I,called it from the start and she mislead me the whole way. And never even offered another attorney complete waste of time and money.
