Amy Tobias was born in Florida and raised in Georgia and Kentucky. She spent her undergraduate years in Chicago, spending summers in New York City. In 2004, Amy settled in Virginia after graduating cum laude from Northwestern University with a degree in Communications. Her passion for law emerged during a legal argument class, prompting her to attend the Washington College of Law at American University, where she served as President of the Moot Court Honor Society and received the Stephen Wermiel Award for her contributions.
Initially aiming to be a prosecutor, Amy shifted her focus to criminal defense after recognizing the need for adequate representation for defendants. After clerking at the Arlington County Circuit Court, she became one of the first attorneys at the newly established Office of the Public Defender in Arlington. Amy later transitioned to private practice, focusing on criminal defense, family law, and personal injury. In 2015, she founded Tobias Law PLLC in Manassas, evolving into Tobias Iszard, PC, with partner Ashleigh Iszard. Amy's extensive experience in family law includes successful appeals in the Virginia Court of Appeals and the Supreme Court of Virginia, alongside her active involvement in local bar associations.
