Judi Wells is a native of Nacogdoches, Texas. While employed full-time in nursing, she obtained experience in a variety of patient services areas, as well as nursing administrative positions. She was later a Delta Air Lines flight attendant.
Upon graduation from law school, Wells joined the energy litigation section at Fulbright & Jaworski, L.L.P., where she practiced in the areas of energy litigation and arbitration, products liability, and toxic torts. She moved home to East Texas in January 2003, and joined the Zeleskey Law Firm. She became a partner with Zeleskey in January 2009. Wells is one of the original partners of Skelton Slusher Barnhill Watkins Wells as of January 2014.
Wells’ practice focuses on oil and gas law and she represents several large oil and gas exploration companies performing title examination, preparing title opinions, acquiring receivership leases, assisting with due diligence and contracts, and litigation. She is experienced in negotiating oil and gas leases, pipeline agreements, seismic agreements, etc.
Wells serves as an adjunct professor at the Nelson Rusche College of Business at Stephen F. Austin State University, where she has taught undergraduate oil and gas law, negotiations, and business law. She received the college’s Outstanding Adjunct Faculty award in Spring 2013.
Wells served as an articles editor on the Houston Law Review and was a member of the Christian Legal Society. She was inducted into the Order of the Barristers and the Order of the Coif for academic achievements and she received a Lex Award for Contracts II. She was a research assistant to Professor Joseph Sanders in drafting a new edition of a products liability casebook.
Wells and her son, Wyatt, live in Nacogdoches. She enjoys riding horses, reading, gardening, and taking photographs of Wyatt’s sports activities. They attend Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
