About Nick Curtis Thompson

Nick C. Thompson is a renowned bankruptcy and foreclosure defense attorney, dedicated solely to serving the Louisville, Kentucky, community. With over three decades of experience, he focuses on using Chapters 7 and 13 to effectively manage mortgages, business debts, student loans, and income tax debts for both consumers and small businesses. Since 1991, Nick has established himself as a professional in consumer bankruptcy law. He has intentionally limited his caseload to fewer than 20 cases per month since 2005, ensuring personalized attention for each client. Unlike many attorneys, Nick handles every case personally, without delegating to paralegals or junior staff. Before transitioning to private practice, Nick served as an assistant attorney general at the West Virginia tax department, where he played a role in drafting the state tax code. His background includes valuable experience in the financial sector, having managed inventory accounting for an oil company and worked with lenders. A CPA exam taker, Nick chose to follow his passion for practicing law in federal court. His diverse career includes roles as a prosecuting attorney, an assistant county attorney, and a federal public defender under the CJA program, showcasing a profound commitment to justice and client advocacy.

Hired Attorney

He was very caring and made a very "tough" situation bearable.

Hired Attorney

Nick Thompson, in my opinion as a past client, is the WORST attorney you could use in Louisville. He self-aggrandizes and talks big, but that's it. He's nothing more than an inflated ego in a suit. When going before the judge, he was a coward and not a fighter. When I consulted other attorneys in his small pool of his specialty, I was sorely advised that he was poorly peer-reviewed, and that they would help me any way they could in pity for his lack of representation and guidance. He has a secretary who acts as his "legal assistant", however, she has no formal education in law. Unfortunately, her heart is in the right place, but when you need an attorney, you need the full gamut of expertise you're paying for. Nick helped me loose a lot more than I should have, so if I can spare another the heartache, it will have been worth it.
