His experience also extends to defending criminal defendants and securing favorable settlements across various legal matters, including personal injury, mortgage litigation, and property disputes. Transitioning his focus to advocating for the wrongly injured, Joel became part of Becker Law Office PLC, a subsidiary of Bubalo Law PLC, in August 2020.
A native of Louisville and a graduate of Ballard High School, Joel earned his Juris Doctor magna cum laude from the University of Louisville's Louis D. Brandeis School of Law in 2016. His academic journey includes obtaining a Bachelor of Arts degree with double majors in history and religion from Miami University in 2005.
Before embarking on his legal career, Joel made significant contributions to politics and government affairs, collaborating closely with prominent figures like Kentucky Governor Steve Beshear and Louisville Mayor Jerry Abramson. Additionally, he served as Director of Government Affairs and Marketing for a healthcare company specializing in daycare services for medically fragile children.
Joel's commitment to public service extends beyond his legal practice. He is a distinguished member of the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels and served two terms on the Judicial Nominating Commission for the 30th Judicial Circuit and District of Kentucky from 2012 to 2017.
Beyond his professional endeavors, Joel finds joy in traveling, cooking, and engaging in board games. However, his greatest pleasure stems from spending quality time with his wife, son, and their two beloved dogs.
Joel is an active member of the legal community, holding memberships in the Kentucky Bar Association, Indiana Bar Association, as well as admissions to the United States District Court for the Western District of Kentucky and the United States District Court for the Southern District of Indiana.
