Hired Attorney

Gives divorce attorneys a bad name. Expensive and useless. Avoid. Will use your children as weapons. Horrible. Ineffective is an understatement. He should be disbarred. Will expose your unredacted personal finances, tax returns and social security numbers in court papers.

Hired Attorney

Working with this lawyer made me understand why divorce lawyers are such a maligned bunch. John Joseph Gilligan is the epitome of a heartless, fee-churning, useless-letter-writing, impotent, expensive lawyer. His signal skill is to ferret out creative ways to add billable minutes. His worst failure is failure to be honest and to actually advocate for his client. He listened to my whole story, and only once I'd gotten an attorney fee award and was able to hire him did he inform me that I should have known better than to believe my father-in-law, back then, when he told us (Wife and I) that the large gifts coming our way were really only intented for his biological relative (his daughter), a notion that I first heard about only once Wife had filed for divorce. He thought it normal, or futile to discuss in court, that a child would reject a parent; that children should stay with their mother if she doesn't want to "share." Avoid at all costs. Mendacious to the core.
