Cheryl Zeman Egebrecht has recently founded Egebrecht Law Office, LLC, under the guiding principles of clear client communication, effective legal service and reasonableness in billing. Ms. Egebrecht loves to advocate for the "little guy and gal" -- whether that is a small business start-up or a disabled person fighting for their rights in obscure bureaucratic realms.
Ms. Egebrecht earned her J.D. degree from George Washington University. During the first ten years of her career, she focused on administrative law matters, delving into the intricacies of several regulatory areas. She had responsibility for ensuring that corporate clients met their filing requirements under the Securities and Exchange Act of 1934. She vigorously prosecuted applications for trademark registration with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (while working for a boutique intellectual property firm within a stone’s throw from the USPTO). Ms. Egebrecht developed expertise in effective communication with government attorneys to attain positive results for her clients. This skill, combined with her tenacious research of applicable law, laid the groundwork for her success in these areas.
Ms. Egebrecht also spent time in a second career as a middle school and high school teacher.
Drawing upon her experience in corporate and intellectual property law, she now assists small businesses with the selection and establishment of their legal entities and protection of their trademarks and copyrights. She believes that small start-ups deserve clear legal advice at a price that does not unduly burden their endeavors.
Ms. Egebrecht also practices in the area of Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI). She believes that the protection of our most vulnerable members of society is the legal profession’s most sacred duty and is gratified to serve in this area.
