About Colette K. Meyer

Perhaps more than any other legal area, estate planning involves intensely personal issues. Attorney Colette Meyer focuses on guiding you through the complicated and often emotional maze of balancing family protection, wealth preservation and cherished family values in the estate planning process. Colette designed her practice in 1998 with a dedication to providing life-long legal representation complemented by personal attention. As life's events happen or laws change, Colette will assist you in refining your goals and wishes and adjusting your estate plan as needed. Colette brings over 20 years of experience to her law practice and built her legal foundation at renowned New York-based firms. Colette was counsel in the Palm Beach office of the international firm Donovan, Leisure, Newton & Irvine. And prior, she was an attorney at the firms of Mudge, Rose, Guthrie, Alexander and Ferdon and Nixon, Hargrave, Devans & Doyle. Colette currently is a member of both the Florida State Bar and State Bar of Wisconsin. She was granted membership in the AARP Legal Services Network and has also held memberships in the Jupiter-Tequesta-Hobe Sound Association of Realtors and the National Network of Estate Planning Attorneys and The Family Wealth Planning Institute®, national organizations of attorneys who specialize in estate planning. In addition, Colette has participated in the adjunct professor program at the University of Miami-School of Law.

Ms. Meyer earned her law degree from the University of Wisconsin - Madison and, while attending law school, was employed by the Wisconsin Attorney General. Prior to law school, Colette completed a Biology degree at Carleton College in Minnesota.

Colette has a strong commitment to the community in which she lives and works and actively supports the arts in her role as past President of the Lighthouse ArtCenter in Tequesta. Colette's personal interests include downhill skiing and whitewater rafting and, through her immigrant parents, Colette has U.S. and Swiss dual citizenship which sparked her love for travel.

When an unexpected and time sensitive matter arose I contacted the Meyer Law Firm for assistance . They immediately grasped the nature and urgency of the matter and prepared not only the initial documents that I inquired about but also recommended supplemental documents to enhance the plan in place. The entire set of documents were not only completed but executed, notarized and in hand to meet the impending deadline! I researched and found what I've come to understand as a Godsend in the estate planning of my Late Mother. Whether it be the simple creation of a trust to negotiating your best interest in defense of contentious family members that threaten litigation, I would not make a move without the counsel of Meyer Law and I can assure anyone looking for sound representation would be wise in following suit!

I first contacted Colette Meyer when a family legal matter became very complicated very quickly. It was the right decision. This was a case of a large company with a team of attorneys taking advantage of a grieving individual. Friends and colleagues had told me that these things take years to resolve if at all - not with the Meyer Law Firm. I have been in business for more than 48 years and I have worked with numerous lawyers in multiple states. I can tell if an attorney is familiar with the legal issue at hand or not. When I first started in business I took for granted the attorney knew what they were doing. Not true, most attorneys are learning on your dime. NOT Ms. Meyer. Ms. Meyer's experienced and knowledgeable, has approached the problem before, knows how to solve the problem because she knows the law as well or better than who you or she is opposing. Additionally, her documents cover all contingencies. If you want an expert on your side who listens and knows how to solve your problem(s), hire Ms. Meyer.
