Brian Powers is an associate in the firm’s Bankruptcy and Creditors’ Rights and Corporate Restructuring Groups.
Brian represents nearly every type of party in bankruptcy proceedings and out-of-court workouts, from debtors to creditors and trustees to committees. Brian has been closely involved in the firm’s representation of clients in some of the country’s most prominent bankruptcy cases, including representing the Official Committee of Unsecured Creditors in Residential Capital, LLC (GMAC Mortgage). Large or small, our clients trust Brian to help them achieve their goals through the bankruptcy process.
During law school, Brian served as Executive Articles Editor for the American Bankruptcy Institute Law Review and was a member of the Bankruptcy Law Society. As Executive Articles Editor, he was responsible for selecting articles on relevant Bankruptcy topics to be published in one of the nation’s premier bankruptcy publications. Brian volunteered in the St. John’s Bankruptcy Advocacy Clinic, during which time he assisted low income New Yorkers with filing bankruptcy petitions under both chapters 7 and 13. Brian was also a Summer Associate and Law Clerk with the firm for two years during law school.
In 2015, the Huntington Township Chamber of Commerce recognized Brian at its “Celebrate Long Island’s Young Professionals” event as one of Long Island’s “30 Under 30.”
