George received his A.B., magna cum laude, from the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs at Princeton University in 1974. He received his B.A. and M.A. from Worcester College at Oxford University. George received his J.D., cum laude, from Harvard Law School in 1979, where he was an editor of the Harvard Civil Rights/Civil Liberties Law Review. He was born in Chicago, Ill., in 1952. Professional enjoyment: We get to help people solve complicated problems in a fair way, peacefully, every day. That is a great privilege, and a great responsibility. Your inspiration: I was the first in my family to become a lawyer, but I grew up wanting to become one. The biographies of Lincoln, Darrow and other lawyers drew me to the profession at an early age. Why bar association involvement: We have a chance and a duty to keep the third leg of our democracy strong. We need to attract and develop great lawyers and judges, and to help our fellow citizens understand that our legal system is a precious necessity. If not a lawyer: probably psychology or teaching/coaching. I would love to write (novels) as well. Fav hobbies: basketball - coaching, playing and watching; cycling; reading and movies. Fav book or author and current reading: Favorite books: William Manchester's biography of Winston Churchill and the Great Gatsby. Currently reading: The Alienist. Fav vacation spot: the next great place we visit for the first time. Fav food or restaurant: As is obvious from time to time, I like all kinds of food! Top of my bucket list: visiting with daughters-in-law and grandchildren.
