Can I marry my boyfriend in the US if he lives in another country?

Answered by attorney Ross Elliott Miller (Unclaimed Profile)
Immigration lawyer at Miller Conway
If you intend to marry in the U.S. you are likely going to file for a fianc visa. To obtain a fiance visa you (a U.S. citizen) will file certain paperwork on your fiancs behalf and he will eventually be issued a visa in his native country then enter the U.S. in order for you to marry within ninety (90) days. Your foreign fiance will be subject to an interview, medical examination, etc. Note that both parties must be free to marry (i.e. not currently married), you must have an income that exceeds the poverty level and you and your fianc have met in person within the previous two (2) years.

What type of visa do I have to get if i'm going to sign a contract with a recording label?

Brian D Lerner
Answered by attorney Brian D Lerner (Unclaimed Profile)
Immigration lawyer at Law Offices of Brian D. Lerner
It would most likely be an O-1 Visa. *O (Extraordinary Alien) Visa* An O Visa is for persons who have extraordinary ability in the arts, sports, sciences or business. Because the H-1B's are used up so quickly, this is a good visa for those persons who have been in the business for quite some time or for people who have demonstrated success over the years. There needs to be an employer who will petition them. If approved, it can last up to 3 years and eventually, an application for permanent residency could be submitted. However, it might also be a P visa depending on the facts and situation.
