What do I need to do if my husband is the petitioner of my case and he has been deported?

Answered by attorney Kevin L. Dixler
Immigration lawyer at Law Office of Kevin L. Dixler
The petitioner must still be a lawful permanent resident. A humanitarian reinstatement seems questionable at this point. You should consider other options. Good luck. The above is general information, not legal advice, and does not create an attorney-client relationship. An appointment is appropriate for legal advice.

Do I need to be a US citizen to petition my wife?

Answered by attorney Bruce A. Coane (Unclaimed Profile)
Immigration lawyer at Coane & Associates, PLLC
With regard to getting married in the Philippines, of course you can sponsor your wife, even if you are an immigrant. The problem is that there is a long quota before she could immigrate. It is much better if you are a USA citizen when there is no quota at all.

Please what do if my new Nigerian husband married me to become a citizen of America

Answered by attorney Alan Lee
Immigration lawyer at Alan Lee Arthur Lee, Attorneys at Law
Given your situation, you may consider stopping his immigration case if you have already started it if you believe that your marital situation is hopeless. There would seem to be little point in helping him to attain his dream life in America without you. Then your husband will do whatever he thinks will get him the green card and money anyway. The immigration laws of the US in dealing with marriage related applications contemplate a bona fide marriage in which the couple have every intent of establishing a life for themselves together in the country.
