It depends upon whether you qualify for an adjustment of status in the U.S. or if you will need to Consular Process with a waiver. We would need to know if you were inspected or not, if and when you or a family member may have filed an immigration petition, etc.

What am I responsible for after I help my wife get her immigration papers?

As a part of petitioning your wife for green card, you will be signing an agreement which you will guarantee her support for 10 years in case she wanted to file for government assistance. You would provide the assistance rather than the government.

If you are a US citizen (you didn't say) and she arrived in the US in any legal status, she is eligible to adjust status to that of permanent resident without leaving the US.
