Can I qualify for u visa

Answered by attorney Alan Lee
Immigration lawyer at Alan Lee Arthur Lee, Attorneys at Law
Whether you would be able to obtain a U visa under the circumstances is questionable. There is the questions of an apportioning of blame and that no one was arrested at the time. You would need a certification from a federal, state or local law enforcement official demonstrating that you have been helpful, are being helpful, or are likely to be helpful in investigating or prosecuting a crime. Inasmuch as there was no interest in prosecuting in 2012, I seriously doubt that such a claim would be valid for purposes of the U visa today. I have a misdemeanor and I have to renew my green card; is that an issue

Answered by attorney Alan Lee
Immigration lawyer at Alan Lee Arthur Lee, Attorneys at Law
An I-90 application to renew the green card requires the taking of biometrics at which time U.S.C.I.S. will have access to information concerning any arrests or dispositions concerning you. There are many misdemeanors that are also deportable offenses. You may wish to consult with an immigration lawyer who can go through your situation and advise whether you might have a problem in trying to renew the green card and what your options might be if that is the case. I want to married my girlfriend but she is in Colombia. I'm disabled but honestly I never found some one that cares more about me. What should I do?

Answered by attorney Stephen Arnold Black
Immigration lawyer at The Law Office of Stephen A. Black
You need to physically meet her within 2 years of filing a fiance visa case. There are very few exceptions. The meeting place can be in the US, Columbia or another country. Once you physically meet her, then you can file for her fiance visa or a spousal visa if you get married at the time you both meet.
