It would be wise for your mother (perhaps with you) to consult with an immigration attorney who, after learning all of the relevant information about your mother, could advise about the steps that might now be taken, and who could offer legal representation to help her attain her goals.

If there is a small spelling mistake, you should be able to function with the EAD card. A small spelling mistake would be like one or two letters out of place in the name, and not a different name.
