How long does it take to petition an unmarried son/daughter of a US citizen?

Answered by attorney Michael Alexander Yurasov-Lichtenberg (Unclaimed Profile)
Immigration lawyer at Havens Lichtenberg PLLC
Right now, USCIS is approving petitions filed in October 2006 (petitions for nationals of Philippines backed up to June 2001, Mexico - September 1993). After USCIS approval, a case goes to the National Visa Center, and then to the U.S. Embassy in the beneficiary's country for a consular processing; these two stages take about 1-1.5 years. So, you can expect a wait of, at least, 8-9 years from the date you filed the petitions (much longer if your children are Filipinos or Mexicans).

It is unclear if CIS denied the application because of your current marriage or her previous marriage. I suggest you consult with an immigration lawyer for advise.

Immigration options from Russia to USA

Answered by attorney Alena Shautsova

Dear Philip,   Your friend might have several options: maybe an investor's visa, maybe employment. It all depends on his budget and qualifications.
