What can be the possible consequences of my overstaying B1/B2 visa for about 27 days?

You could be denied entry at the border because of your overstay. If that happens, you will be put on the next plane to your home country and you will not be allowed to even call anyone in the US. If a plane is not immediately available, they can even transport you to a detention center to wait for your next plane; they will not let you wait in the airport overnight. Thus, overstaying your welcome is very risky if you want to return. I am not telling you that this will in fact happen, but this is the worst-case scenario that could possibly happen to you.

What is the average waiting time to petition a family member to come to the US?

Answered by attorney Louis M. Piscopo
Immigration lawyer at Law Offices of Louis M. Piscopo, APLC
Your son would be in the Family Based 1st Preference category. It will take approximately 6 years (78 if he was born in the Philippines or Mexico) for his priority date to become current. The priority date is established by you filing an I-130 petition. Once it is approved and current he can apply for an immigrant visa.

How can I authorize my work permit if my wife withdrew her petition?

Unless your wife was abusive, physically or emotionally, you don't have options. If she was abusive you could self petition as a battered spouse. Otherwise, you have no options.
