What's my best option after being part of deportation proceedings?

Answered by attorney Alan Lee
Immigration lawyer at Alan Lee Arthur Lee, Attorneys at Law
The best option would probably be to seek legal assistance to file a request for a joint motion to ICE to have your case reopened. If such can be done and the immigration judge agrees, you would apply for adjustment of status to permanent residence assuming that your girlfriend is a US citizen. If she is not a US citizen, then your options become more limited and you should certainly consult with an immigration lawyer to go over your situation in depth before taking any action. How do I get back to the US when my student visa has expired?

Answered by attorney William D. Fong (Unclaimed Profile)
Immigration lawyer at Fong Ilagan
You will need to apply for the appropriate visa, typically the B-2 visitor visa or the H-1B professional visa if you have an offer of employment, etc. You can also turn in the I-94 to the US consulate in your home country.

Will committing a public assistance programs fraud effect an asylum seeker case?

Answered by attorney David Troy Cox
Immigration lawyer at CoxEsq, PC
It would not adversely affect her asylum case.  Of course, if she is charged, she may face jail time for the fraud conviction.
