How can I help my mother become a U.S. citizen or a permanent resident?

Answered by attorney Carlos E. Sandoval
Immigration lawyer at Carlos E. Sandoval, P.A.
We would need to check whether your parents qualify under section 245(i) of the immigration laws. Has anybody ever petitioned for her or your step father?

I am here in US holding a green card and my bf is in UK. he is trying to visit me and my family here. he is going for visitors visa this 30th

Answered by attorney Alan Lee
Immigration lawyer at Alan Lee Arthur Lee, Attorneys at Law
B-2 visas are given in the discretion of the consular officer. There is no way to guarantee that an individual will get the visa. Factors that a consular officer looks at are the reasons for coming to the US, length of intended stay, and whether the individual has ties and bonds to the home country. The fact that your boyfriend is in an MBA program and currently enrolled in the University are helpful factors. Others would be if he was deep in the MBA program rather than just starting out; whether he has property, bank accounts, or his family members in the UK, etc.Due to the limitations of the Lawyers.com Forums, Alan Lee, Esq.'s (the "Firm") participation in responding to questions posted herein does not constitute legal advice, nor legal representation of the person or entity posting a question. Will committing a public assistance programs fraud effect an asylum seeker case?

Answered by attorney David Troy Cox
Immigration lawyer at CoxEsq, PC
It would not adversely affect her asylum case.  Of course, if she is charged, she may face jail time for the fraud conviction.
