Does my time from before i was married to today , (after marriage) count twards accelerating out process?

Mark J. Curley
Answered by attorney Mark J. Curley (Unclaimed Profile)
Immigration lawyer at Curley Immigration Law, PC LLO
As you probably know, when you got married, the first application that your father filed for you was automatically revoked.  There are no permanent visa categories for married children of residents.  When your father naturalized and filed a new application for you, it was in the category for married children of citizens.  The only way for you to retain your earlier priority date is if the same petitioner (your father) filed an application for the same beneficiary (you) in the same visa category.  Since your current application was filed in a different visa category, you cannot retain your old priority date.   Please contact an experienced local attorney for more information.

They do not need a sponsorship to visit. The application for the visa is made through the closest US consulate. Reservations can be made on the Webb.

Do I need to have some kind of income so my boyfriend can apply for his residency?

Yes, you will need to be married, and as the petitioning spouse, will need to meet the minimum income requirements of the I-864 for your family size as noted on the I-864P. Please note that your (then) husband will need to qualify for the permanent residence as well, typically based on his current U.S. immigration status or other possible grounds of inadmissibility.
