Marrying abroad and having her Consular Process can take about the same time as a fiance visa, but eliminates the need to file an adjustment application when she arrives and you marry in the U.S. Requirements to marry abroad will vary based on the foreign country's requirements.

If you're married, and the only options are "married" or "not married", you'd have to check the "married" box.

Would I need a lawyer on my master hearing if my stepmom is a citizen nd im getting ma work permit?

Answered by attorney David Troy Cox
Immigration lawyer at CoxEsq, PC
Having a lawyer is always a good idea.  Step mothers cannot confer any immigration benefit.  If you are in removal proceedings, the underling status qualifying you for a work permit is being called into question, so the work permit won't protect you.
