Jerry Barclay was appointed by the court as our grandchildren’s Guardian ad litem. We met with him the first time and felt as if he really heard us and understood our plight. He spoke on and on about how important it was for the grandparents to be a part of their grandchildren’s life. We apparently we “drank the kool aide” and thought how lucky we were to have found him. Well , that was the last time we ever could believe him. From that point on, he never once tried to help with a relationship with our grandchildren. He was terrified of the children’s family and decided it was better to appease them vs working on a solution for all of us. My husband and I turned out to be the adults in this case. Their parents had turned them against us and we finally knew Jerry was never going to stand up for a solution, so we let the children go so as to not have them put in a controversial situation.
