Amid a highly contentious divorce and custody battle, my Ex resorted to false allegations as an attempt to gain an upper hand. Acting on the recommendation of a close friend, I engaged Mr. Russell's legal services. However, my experience took an unexpected turn over the span of five years of minimal action on my case. Precisely on the eve of a pivotal hearing, I received a call from him, conveying the urgent need for an additional $6000 in order to appear in court the following day. In light of this, I made the decision to terminate his services promptly. Subsequently, I became privy to unsettling details about his criminal history. Specifically, he had been convicted in a federal child pornography case, resulting in a suspension period of six months accompanied by home confinement. Furthermore, his involvement in a sexual harassment case came to light. This was compounded by multiple grievances filed against him in Connecticut, wherein he either faced sanctions.
Initially, I engaged the services of Attorney Russell with genuine optimism. However, it became abundantly clear that the persona portrayed on his website and promotional materials was far from reality. Rather than embodying the professional I had hoped for, he demonstrated a singular focus on extracting the maximum amount of money from me. His deliberate prolongation of my case over the course of years was evident. Regrettably, my association with Mr. Russell proved fruitless, as I derived no advantages from the arrangement. Communication was virtually nonexistent, with unanswered phone calls and emails serving as testament. Additionally, he failed to provide any form of billing documentation for the time expended on my case. All in all, this experience stands as a profoundly disappointing chapter.
This lawyer is a convicted felon - a felon practicing Law. He was involved with a child molestation case. Unethical would be an understatement. Dig into his past and you will see his connection to a case where he illegally destroyed evidence that would have help convict a priest child molester. Also he had multiple sexual harassment complaints by his female employees. Multiple Statewide Grievance Complaints. No reason to even consider this attorney.
I wish I had known about Philip Russell's history of legal problems prior to engaging his services. I wasn't aware he almost was disbarred for destroying evidence involving child pornography. In fact, I didn't realize that the Hartford Courant recommended he be disbarred: https://www.courant.com/2007/12/20/lawyer-deserves-disbarment/ You would think Mr. Russell, granted a lifeline, would operate with the highest of ethics going forward. In my case, he took my retainer, did nothing and refunded a portion after I threatened action with the CT. Statewide Bar Grievance Committee. As I found out, that committee doesn't accomplish much unless the complaint is so serious it cannot be swept under the rug. Most attorney's exploit the process and escape formal action. As a result, lawyers like Mr. Russell are free to continue acting unethically with little fear of being sanctioned.
The worst of the worst. In my life I have never met a more unethical, mean spirited, degrading human being. An embarrassment to all the good lawyers out there. At the same level as phone scammers. His past illustrates his terrible ways - convicted of a Federal Felony related to a Child Porn case, but still practicing! Nope he didn't tell me when I hired him.
I hired Attorney Russell and at the time didn’t realize nor did he disclose he was a Federally Convicted Felon, in a Child Pornography related crime. Once I found this out I did some additional research and uncovered a whole slew of unethical, immoral, and outright shocking information about his professional conduct. In addition to the felony charges he was convicted of, he has been the subject of multiple CT Statewide Grievance sanctions, and disciplinary actions. He was the subject of a Sexual Harassment action, concerning a female employee. Although I understand people can redeem themselves I have Mr Russell the benefit of the doubt. Unfortunately he proved himself to align with his past performance - screaming, insulting and degrading me in a phone call in front of my young daughter. He failed to provide invoices, bills or any other accounting documents as required. It’s my duty to warn others about this guy.
